Come to Me

Writer's picture: Danielle RobackDanielle Roback

There is an open invitation from Jesus to come to Him, accepting this invitation leads to freedom from strongholds. A primary stronghold is trauma. What we have seen, heard, and experienced in our past that resulted in allowing the enemy an open door. This can be a seed deposited that can result in fear, anxiety, worry, and pain. What has been causing weariness or heaviness in your soul that is keeping you weighed down? Have you ever asked the Lord to reveal WHY you may respond to certain people, words, or situations out of a place of fear? Where does it stem from?

The Lord spoke to my heart through a memory of my own going back to when I was 7 years old. My father, who also struggled with a chronic disease, was in a horrible car accident and I remember the phone call to tell my mom to go to the hospital immediately. As a little girl who loved her dad, this was a traumatic event. Through this experience, a door was open of fear of lack of protection. What if my loved ones get hurt? What is there isn't anything I can do to help? How can I protect them? The Holy Spirit reminded me of this memory and revealed the bondage that came from it. Even though it is hard to re-live those painful times of our lives, once revealed we are able to open our hearts to ask Jesus to set us free. I share this to help to expose the ways of the enemy and how he wants to use past traumatic events to keep us chained. Often times it may even be an event that we have subconsciously buried, but still deal with the repercussions daily. We react to triggers, known or unknown, and react out of fear without realizing why. These areas are a danger to our growth and ability to live abundantly. When a wound is left unattended, it cannot heal. The goal of the enemy is to have us continue to be blinded and unknowingly agree with his lies. When we ask the Holy Spirit to shine his light on these areas and open our hearts to heal, God turns them for His glory like he promised he would. Through this healing, what once was a weakness is now an empowerment of the Holy Spirit resulting in the authority to help others also be set free. His promises are true and we can always be fully confident in them as our strong foundation.

For everyone who has been born of God overcomes the world. and this is the victory that has overcome the world - our faith.

1 John 5:4

Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.

Matthew 11:28-30

For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline.

2 Timothy 1:7

Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.

James 5:16

I sought the Lord, and he answered me; he delivered me from all my fears.

Psalm 34:4

Then they cried to the Lord in their trouble, and he saved them from their distress. He brought them out of darkness, the utter darkness, and broke away their chains. Let them give thanks to the Lord for his unfailing love and his wonderful deeds for mankind, for he breaks down gates of bronze and cuts through bars of iron.

Psalm 107:13-16
